What do you love most about your job?
Merge isn't just a business. It's a collection of skilled and passionate people with a shared vision to support and improve the way our clients work. What I love most is not what we do, but why we do it.
What do you love doing outside of business hours?
My favourite pastime is undoubtedly wreaking havoc at home with my 3 little boys (and apologising to my wife shortly after).If I'm not doing that you can find me tending to our hobby farm or firing up the charcoal grill!
Ben Sly

I’ve been working in the industry for 20+years, starting hands on technical roles, leading to well over a decade in design, solution sales, and leadership.
What do you love most about your job?
There are many things to love about the industry we find ourselves in! Hybrid work has presented challenges for most businesses, I get great satisfaction out of seeing our team address these challenges and connect people in the workplace. To see technology be effectively deployed and adopted is hugely rewarding! We are fortunate to be involved with our customers end-to-end, from design workshops to implementation and ongoing support, I love seeing a concept turn into a reality. Working with a team of dynamic, highly skilled, and passionate individuals is what makes it so much fun!
What do you love doing outside of business hours?
If I’m not at work, you will find me spending time with family and friends, playing golf, or watching my beloved Hawthorn Football Club lose games.
Brad Perry
How long have you been working in the tech industry?
I started in the industry 21 years ago after moving to Brisbane, initially to complete a course in Audio Engineering. I ended up having the same boss for 20 years from that point!
What do you love most about your job?
I really enjoy seeing clients' new workplaces come to life and the excitement that follows when technology solutions are simplified.
On a more personal note, I love the diverse interactions our industry offers, across so many different client verticals, and vendors. I'm also deeply passionate about sharing the knowledge I've gained with the next generation.
What do you love doing outside of business hours?
I love camping with my wife and two little girls, either out in the bush or at the beach, and kicking back around the pool with a beer in summer.

Seeing the look on clients faces when they experience the seamless operation of a brand-new AV/VC room come to life.

Craft beer sessions, watching the NBA and binging TV shows with my wife, hanging out with the squad.
James Button
How long have you been working in the tech industry?
Over a decade. I started in IT Consultancy, then moved into audio visual design & delivery across higher education and enterprise. My strengths are turning business needs into practical room designs, keeping stakeholders aligned, and driving projects from scope to handover with clear communication, tidy execution, and solid documentation.
What do you love most about your job?
Helping customers feel confident their spaces will “just work.” I enjoy guiding projects end-to-end - from the first conversation and concept, through design and build, to commissioning and handover. The goal is simple: a clean, reliable room that’s easy to use on day one and leaves the client genuinely satisfied.
What do you love doing outside of business hours?
Giving back and spending time with family. I am an avid community volunteer supporting a range of different initiatives from emergency management to homeless outreach programs. Away from work I’m with my wife and our infant son, getting outdoors, and planning our next travel adventure.
Greig Hodgins
How long have you been working in the tech industry?
I've been in the tech industry for 23 years, starting in live sound and events, then transitioning to corporate AV for financial institutions, and now focusing on solution design and account management.
What do you love most about your job?
I love establishing and nurturing relationships with our clients while delivering exceptional yet simplified solutions that enable businesses to do what they do best!
What do you love doing outside of business hours?
I love spending time with my wife and 2 boys – which keeps me happily busy! I have a passion for music and love seeing live gigs and also playing drums/percussion in various bands. I also like to relax by restoring mid-century furniture.
Alex Doherty

What do you love most about your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the genuine excitement and satisfaction from clients when we deliver a solution that not only meets but exceeds their expectations. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that our work makes a real difference for them. Plus, working alongside a team that’s equally passionate about problem-solving and continuous improvement makes everyday interesting and rewarding.
What do you love doing outside of business hours?
Outside of work I love to explore new places. I love camping with my family and being outdoors. I’m also a huge foodie so love to try out all the new restaurants and cafe’s. Oh, and of course I love a good beer or two!

I love the problem solving process that comes with AV, and helping clients better understand the way they can use their systems to their fullest potential.

You'll most likely find me in a bouldering gym, or in front of my sewing machine.

What do you love most about your job?
Interacting with literally all of our customers on a regular basis. I hold a degree in early childhood and have always been interested in other people and developing meaningful relationships.

I love being a mum to my 3 beautiful little boys and tending to my chickens who, yes, all have names!
Grace Tran

What do you love most about your job?
My love for marketing is inspired by my interest in human interactions, which led me to pursue dual degrees in Marketing and Psychology. I believe these disciplines are intricately connected, and shapes the strategic approach to marketing. I love making an impact for the business' success in this very competitive market, being involved within the dynamic nature of the field, opportunity to work with diverse teams, and the satisfaction of seeing the strategies/campaigns come to life.
What do you love doing outside of business hours?
Having too much bubble tea*.. Binging TV shows until late and regretting it in the morning.. very much enjoy eating good food and watching NBA when the season is on.
